My lazy spa has been fine for 18 months and is now tripping electrics every time I put on to heat and filter

if your hot tub is tripping the breaker, it could be due to a worn out ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) breaker, which is responsible for preventing electrical surges. You can try flipping the breaker to see if it trips again. If it does, then you may need to replace the breaker.Another possible cause of the problem could be loose electrical connections in your hot tub . This can lead to power fluctuations that cause your hot tub circuit breaker to trip. Professional electricians can inspect your hot tub and tighten any connections that are loose, which should fix the circuit breaker problem. If your spa is not receiving power, you should check your home's circuit breaker to ensure that it's not tripped . Reset the circuit breaker if it's tripped to restore power to the spa. If the circuit breaker keeps tripping, it may be an indication of an electrical problem, and you should call a professional electrician to diagnose and fix the issue

The controller for my Prowler 920 will NOT turn on. It flashes a few of the lights on and off but will not power up so I can run the Prowler to clean my pool

If the controller for your Prowler 920 robotic pool cleaner is not turning on or powering up properly, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:1. Check the Power Supply: Ensure that the power supply is properly connected to the controller and that it is receiving power. Verify that the power cord is securely plugged into a functioning power outlet. You can try plugging another device into the same outlet to confirm that it is working correctly.2. Inspect the Controller Display: Take a close look at the display on the controller. If any error codes or messages are displayed, consult the user manual or contact the manufacturer for further instructions on how to resolve the specific issue indicated.3. Reset the Controller: Try performing a reset on the controller. Look for a reset button or a combination of buttons to press and hold simultaneously for a few seconds. This action can often help resolve minor software glitches and restore the controller's functionality.4. Check for Loose Connections: Ensure that all cables and connections between the controller and the power supply or the Prowler unit are securely plugged in. Sometimes, a loose or faulty connection can prevent the controller from turning on.5. Replace Batteries: If your controller uses batteries, make sure they are not depleted. Try replacing the batteries with fresh ones and see if the controller powers up properly.6. Contact Manufacturer Support: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it's recommended to reach out to the manufacturer's customer support. They can provide you with further assistance, troubleshooting steps, or advise on any potential repairs or replacements that may be needed.Remember to consult the user manual that came with your Prowler 920 for any specific troubleshooting steps or contact information for customer support.

Our control panel indicator lights do not light up when pool comes on but may come on during the cycle. No consistency.

If the control panel indicator lights on your pool system do not consistently light up when the pool is turned on, it could indicate a potential issue with the control panel or the electrical connections. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:1. Check Power Supply: Ensure that the power supply to the control panel is stable and consistent. Make sure the power source is providing the correct voltage and that there are no loose or faulty connections.2. Inspect Wiring Connections: Verify that all wiring connections to the control panel are secure and properly connected. Loose or damaged wiring can cause intermittent issues with the indicator lights.3. Clean and Inspect Control Panel: Check the control panel for any signs of dirt, debris, or corrosion. Clean the control panel and its components using a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution. Inspect for any visible damage or loose components.4. Test Indicator Lights: While the pool is running, observe the control panel and try to identify any patterns or triggers that may cause the indicator lights to come on. Gently tap on the control panel to see if it affects the lights. This could indicate a loose connection or a faulty component within the control panel.5. Consult a Professional: If the issue persists or you are unable to identify the cause of the inconsistent indicator lights, it is recommended to contact a professional pool technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They will have the expertise to diagnose and resolve the specific issue with your pool control system.Remember, working with electrical components requires caution. If you are not experienced or comfortable working with electrical systems, it is best to seek professional help to avoid any potential safety hazards.

My Certikin Genie pool heater is showing error code HI indicating blocked condensate but there is no blockage, and sensor seems to be ok - tested with meter - is there anything else I can do?

If your Certikin Genie pool heater is displaying an error code "HI" indicating a blocked condensate, but you have checked for blockages and the sensor appears to be functioning correctly, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check the condensate drain line: Ensure that the condensate drain line is clear and not blocked. Sometimes debris or dirt can accumulate in the drain line, causing a blockage. Use a thin brush or pipe cleaner to clean out any potential obstructions.
  2. Inspect the condensate trap: The condensate trap is a component in the heater's condensate system that collects and removes condensation. Check the condensate trap for any blockages or debris. Remove any obstructions and clean the trap thoroughly.
  3. Verify the exhaust system: Make sure the exhaust system, including the vent pipe and termination point, is clear of any obstructions. Blockages in the exhaust system can cause condensate backup. Inspect the vent pipe for any signs of damage or clogs and address any issues found.
  4. Reset the system: Try resetting the pool heater to see if it resolves the error code. Consult the manufacturer's manual or instructions for the specific steps on how to reset the heater. This can sometimes clear temporary faults or errors.
  5. Contact technical support: If you have performed the above steps and the error code persists, it's recommended to contact Certikin's technical support or customer service for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting guidance or recommend a qualified technician who can diagnose and fix the issue.

It's important to note that working with pool heaters involves dealing with potentially hazardous systems and components. If you are not experienced or comfortable with troubleshooting pool heaters, it's best to seek professional help from a certified technician or contact the manufacturer for support.

Why is my spa pool not working? ›

There are several possible reasons why spa jets are not working. It may be due to a faulty circulation pump, clogged filter, or water intake issues. If some jets are working fine, there might be chemical damage or calcium build–up to those that are not working.

Why is the plaster coming off my pool? ›

Plaster Flaking or Peeling

The pool industry refers to this as spalling. Aggressive pool water with sustained low PH or low calcium levels is the typical cause of spalling. It dissolves a soluble calcium compound called calcium hydroxide. Often, this occurs under a floating chlorinator on the top step of a pool or spa.

How to troubleshoot a hot tub? ›

STEPS TO TAKE IF YOUR HOT TUB WATER WON'T HEAT
  1. Check water level and look for blockages in the circulation system.
  2. Wash your filters, rinse with a hose and soak in filter cleaner.
  3. Turn your heater breaker off and on, or reset your heater directly.
  4. If you've filled your water recently, there could be an airlock in the lines.

What causes etching in the pool? ›

In case it isn't completely obvious, calcium hydroxide dissolving into the pool water is primarily what causes the spot etching. More specifically, as the water starts to dissolve the calcium hydroxide, there is a chemical attraction that will cause even more of it to migrate to the surface of the plaster.

Where is the reset button on a hot tub? ›

There are generally two "hard resets" in hot tubs, the GFCI, and the high limit reset. There is not a reset button on the pump itself. The reset button is usually located on the spa pack – the box that controls all the functions of your hot tub, such as heating and filtration timing, and turns the pump on and off.

Why is my spa tub not working? ›

Start by checking all the connections, including the pipes and jets. Then examine the tub's shell for any holes or cracks. A hole in the air control valve could also be a culprit. Inspect all your valves; some have compartments bolted together with a gasket between them which sometimes fails and causes leakage.

How do I know if my pool plaster is bad? ›

The Pool Plaster Is Flaking or Peeling

This is also known as spalling and occurs when the pH level or calcium levels of your pool are too low. With too low pH, the pool water becomes acidic, which dissolves the soluble calcium compound, known as calcium hydroxide, in your pool's plaster.

What is the life of pool plaster? ›

The lifespan of pool plaster depends on many factors, such as the quality of the plaster, the water chemistry, and the maintenance practices. On average, a well-maintained pool plaster can last between 7 to 12 years. However, some swimming pool owners have reported that their plaster lasted for more than 12 years.

Does too much chlorine damage pool plaster? ›

How do I know if my hot tub has an airlock? ›

As mentioned above, the most common sign that your hot tub has an air lock is the jets not working when powered on. This can include nothing coming out of your jets when they are turned on or even a humming sound coming from the jets or pump.

What are the codes on a hot tub? ›

Hot tub error codes
  • pd: Power supply on battery.

How do I know if my hot tub sensor is bad? ›

Stick a thermometer in the water to see if there's a discrepancy in the temperature reading, which could indicate a faulty temperature sensor or thermostat. On most hot tubs, this sensor is located just inside of the filter housing.

Can I use concrete etching muriatic acid in my pool? ›

Muriatic acid Is a 20° Baume (31.45%) hydrochloric acid solution used for cleaning and preparing concrete prior to etching, coating and sealing. Muriatic acid can also be used to lower the pH in pools and spas.

How do I reset a spa pump? ›

Turn the pump unit off and unplug from the socket (leave for 10 seconds). Plug the pump unit back in and turn it back on. Press the thermal reset button using a pencil or screwdriver. Once done, press the heater button.

Why is my spa pump not pumping water? ›

If you can hear your hot tub pump trying to run but it is not pushing out water, you likely have an air lock or a clog. Try turning off the pump and checking your filter or alternating the jets between low and high. If that does not work, you may need to call your service professional for advice.

What would cause a hot tub not to turn on? ›

If your hot tub is not turning on, there could be a problem with the hot tub's electrical supply or the hot tub's control panel. First, check the hot tub's breaker and ensure it is not tripped. Next, check the hot tub's control panel to see if it is functioning properly.
